Initiative for Lasting Change
The Initiative for Lasting Change currently focuses resources on students attending Washburn and Westwood Elementary Schools' Kinderprep program - a preschool program for three- and four-year-olds who are from low-income households and/or English Language Learners.
The goals of the Initiative are to get ALL kids ready for kindergarten and ALL kids reading by 3rd grade.
Strategies used to reach these goals include parent support, wrap-around services and transition to Kindergarten plans. In addition, the Initiative helps connect families to resources in our community to meet basic needs and increase family engagement.
The We Believe Alliance has gratefully received grants and contributions from the United Way, Walmart, Bloomington Crime Prevention Association, community churches and individual donors. The Alliance funds projects implemented by partners, including the Initiative for Lasting Change.
The Initiative for Lasting Change video makes the case for change and how the District's pivotal work creating effective internal systems and external partnerships are helping to address student and family needs.
