About Kids' SAFARI
Kids' SAFARI offers before and after school programs for children in kindergarten through grade 5. The focus is on school-age childcare and enrichment opportunities designed to meet the changing needs of children and families. This is accomplished through creative learning experiences designed to increase social interaction. Our programs are fee-based and administered by the Bloomington Community Education Youth and Family Department. Kids' SAFARI is located in all Bloomington elementary schools.
Our purpose is to lead children to discover friendship, independence and confidence through a variety of activities and experiences. Children are led to discover their talents and interests and to take pride in their accomplishments. The staff and program facilitates a warm and secure environment. The role of Kids' SAFARI, in cooperation with home and school, is to support the development of the whole child.
Kids' SAFARI accepts all students residing in or attending an elementary school in Bloomington. During the school year, Kids' SAFARI provides programming for students enrolled in kindergarten through grade 5. During the summer, Kids' SAFARI provides full-day programming for students entering kindergarten through the completion of grade 5.

Bloomington Kids' SAFARI partners with National Inclusion Project
Bloomington Kids’ SAFARI is partnering with the National Inclusion Project to create an inclusive environment where children with and without disabilities can play and learn together.
Through the partnership, the National Inclusion Project provides the Let’s ALL Play program, which includes staff training, an annual Power of Play Conference and access to a network of inclusion experts.
The Let’s ALL Play program helps children with disabilities improve self-esteem, social skills and confidence, while those without disabilities improve their leadership, problem solving and empathy skills. The program makes it possible for all children to come together and participate in recreational activities like swimming, arts and crafts, community service, and physical fitness. It also allows children to create friendships that may have not been possible in other parts of their lives.
The National Inclusion Project was co-founded in 2003 by entertainer Clay Aiken and serves to bridge the gap that exists between young people with disabilities and the world around them. For more information on the National Inclusion Project, visit www.inclusionproject.org.
